About The Author: Alyssa Churchill is 15 years old and was born in Kitchener, Ontario. She is currently a grade 10 honors student at Forest Heights Collegiate Institute and maintained a 96 percent average in first semester. Alyssa recently graduated from Westheights Public School and was awarded with the Don McKee Citizenship Award, the Creative Arts Award and the Letter W Award. Alyssa is a dedicated, hardworking and persevering person. This is shown through her commitment to competitive gymnastics where she trains 21 hours per week. She achieved the Athlete of the Year and the Technical Excellence awards from KW Gymnastics in 2015. She is currently the level seven beam and bar provincial champion and recently received an athletic achievement award from the city of Kitchener for these provincial titles.
Alyssa has lots of experience working with children. She is a volunteer at the Carousel Dance Centre where she assists with dance classes and works one on one with special needs children. She has completed her NCCP level one coaching and risk management certification from Gymnastics Ontario and coaches kindergym and recreational youth at Glendon Gymnastics. Alyssa hopes to one day use her passion and love for working with kids to become a primary school teacher. Outside of school and gymnastics, Alyssa also enjoys dancing, and has completed her Intermediate Foundation and Intermediate RAD ballet exams with distinction. Aside from all her activities, she loves to cook and go shopping in her spare time.
